Fill the frame
Get close so the card edges are near the photo borders — small cards in big photos are the #1 cause of misreads.
Even, indirect light
Avoid glare — overhead room light or window light at an angle reads better than direct flash on holo cards.
Sharp focus on the title
The card name + number drive matching — if those are blurry, confidence drops fast even when the art looks fine.
