Where to buy on release day

EB Games has confirmed 30 stores will open from 9pm on Tuesday 15 September, with 30th Celebration sales and eligible preorder collections beginning from 12:01am on Wednesday. Check EB Games' participating-store list before travelling.
Games World has announced doors open at 8am on Wednesday 16 September for the launch, with products including Elite Trainer Boxes, Knock Out Collections and Tech Stickers. The announcement does not confirm that every location opens at 8am, so check your local store for its hours and availability.
Kmart has already offered 30th Celebration products through online preorder. Additional online stock on 16 September has not been confirmed. In-store stock is expected, but timing, limits and queue procedures can vary by location.

Local card stores
Local game stores are worth checking, but release-day availability varies heavily by store. Many stores allocated some or most of their 30th Celebration stock through preorders.
- Good Games says its Wave 1 allocation for 16 September is exhausted.
- Unplugged Games has said any remaining Wave 1 stock after preorders will be sold in store on release day, with purchase limits.
Check your local store's latest Facebook or Instagram posts before travelling. If it is unclear whether walk-in stock remains after preorders, call the store directly.
Going in-store? Read this first
High-demand launches are handled differently by each store and shopping centre, so confirm the details for your specific store on the day.
Shopping-centre access
If the store is inside a shopping centre, check the centre's own opening and access information as well as the store's advertised time. Some public entrances open earlier because they service early-opening tenants (supermarkets, gyms), and different entrances can leave you much closer to Kmart, BIG W and the like. Do not use staff-only or restricted entrances, and do not assume a queue at one exterior entrance is the only queue. When you arrive, confirm where the actual store queue is forming.
Find where the line is forming
Most stores will use the normal entrance and a simple first-come queue. Some stores may hand out numbered tickets or stickers, or introduce another queue system on the day. If staff or security are managing the queue, follow their directions.
Arrive early and expect queues
Arrive early and expect queues to form outside the shopping centre before opening. Once the centre opens, customers will generally make their way to the retailer and form a second queue outside the store. Queue management varies by location. Some stores may hand out numbers or tickets, use stickers, or introduce purchase limits, while others may simply serve customers in queue order.
24-hour Kmart
A 24-hour Kmart does not necessarily mean a midnight Pokémon release. On previous launches, collector reports have varied: some stores released around midnight, others held launch stock until the morning. Check with the specific store rather than assuming stock will be released at 12:00am.
CardWatch state channels
Check your CardWatch Discord state channel before travelling and while moving between stores. Members share live local intelligence: queue sizes, where the queue is forming, whether numbers are being handed out, reported limits, whether stock has reached the floor or customer service, and whether a store looks sold out. Have a backup store
Pick a second destination before launch morning. Areas with several relevant retailers (Kmart, BIG W, Toymate, Toyworld, Games World and local card stores) give you another option if your first store has a big queue, gets no stock or sells out. None of these are guaranteed to have 30th stock.
